Koh Tao is situated in the Gulf of Thailand and is part of a small chain of Islands that include Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao's little sister island, Koh Nang Yuan. The warm tropical temperatures of this remote, yet highly accessible island ensure perfect diving most of the year.
The best time to come to Koh Tao is during the dry months of February to October when we only get a small amount of rain and the temperatures can soar to 35 degrees centigrade. The crystal clear waters give unbelievable diving conditions and allow you to observe the wonders of the undersea world in a very relaxed fashion.
Koh Tao has no natural source of fresh water and thus relies on Mother Nature to replenish it's supply. Increasing demands put huge stresses on this resource, so please be aware and conserve water.
Salt water needs love too – the ocean is for everyone, and therefore is not a good home for your rubbish (use the bins, please), fruit rinds (sure, they’re organic – but when’s the last time you saw a sea pineapple?), or your cigarette butts. It is, however, a great home for corals and other fragile marine life. By minding your manners, especially where you put your hands and feet, you can help keep it that way. Please look, but don’t touch, and please don’t stand or climb on the reef! Remember, take nothing but pictures, and leave nothing but bubbles!
Koh Tao has little infrastructure to handle rubbish and waste; plastic is especially difficult to dispose of. Bottles should be separated and brought to the appropriately marked bins, please use your own bag whenever possible.
That goes the same for our toilets here. Anything that isn't organic shouldn't go into the toilets here. All toilets around Koh Tao have waste bins beside them for toilet paper and any other toiletry item that you would normally flush.
Please Help Keep Koh Tao Clean So That We Can Enjoy Her For Years To Come!
Thank You.
